How much experience do you have in Half Life 2 Roleplay?: I've been in HL2RP for about seven or so years at this point.

Do you have any experience in the Vortigaunt faction in general?: Yes. I was a Vortigaunt player on RUG without any issues.

Do you have any whitelists currently?: CCA

Vortigaunt Knowledge
Try to write as much as you can without dragging it out just for the sake of word count, show us that you understand the Faction and that you want in.

What is a vortigaunt?: Vortigaunts are a race of aliens from another dimension, having been enslaved for centuries by the Nihilanth and Alien Controllers, now enslaved by the Combine.

How do vortigaunts act?: Vortigaunts are calm, wise creatures, averse to fighting unless pushed to the point of necessity. Vortigaunts have what is effectively a religion, with an odd view of the connectedness of everything in the universe.

What is the vortessence?: The Vortessence is a unique and not very well understood force that, according to the vortigaunts, makes up everything in the universe, akin to the human "string theory". The Vortessence can only be harnessed by a select few beings, the only ones known being the vortigaunts, the alien controllers, and the Nihilanth.

How does vortigese work?: Vortigese is a language unique to the vortigaunts. It cannot be replicated by humans, as certain pitches and tones are impossible for the human body to create. Vortigaunts can also shout long distances, transferring their message far beyond the distance a normal human shout would be carried.

What do the shackles & collar on a Biotic do?: A biotic's shackles and collar suppress their ability to manipulate the Vortessence, stripping them of the many powerful abilities that it provides. The shackles and collar also act as a tracking device to prevent vortigaunts from just running away from the cities.

How do Vortigaunts act towards other factions?: Vortigaunts are a wise and peaceful, yet not pacifistic, race. They avoid conflict, even with their oppressors, the Combine, until it is a necessity. Often, vortigaunts will work with resistance groups, although these alliances could simply be due to the fact that rebels are the ones liberating them from the bonds of slavery.

In-Character Info

Vortigaunt Name: Ven'Raah

Vortigaunt Age: 127

Does your vortigaunt have any special characteristics that could be unique or stand out from the rest?: Ven'Raah is a rather plain vortigaunt when it comes to his capabilities, although his talents with the Vortessence lie further in the supporting capabilities of it, such as healing, than in the offensive capabilities of it.

Your vortigaunt's detailed backstory: Born into slavery during the period of time spent by the vortigaunts in Xen, Ven'Raah was viewed as a problematic member of the tribe. Lively and spirited, he'd often get into trouble, although not enough to draw the ire of the alien controllers presiding over him and his people. During the Black Mesa incident, Ven'Raah was sent to Earth to fight during the latter half of the incident, and although he hesitated, he was forced by the influence of the Controllers to fight, killing one H.E.C.U. Marine before the Nihilanth's death. Ven'Raah was teleported far away from the Black Mesa Facility during the chaos, barely escaping the facility's nuking. He spent the years of the Portal Storms wandering around, avoiding humans at all costs, fearing any further conflict and now incredibly adverse to killing. He was lost, without a home, without a people. His problems did not end there, as the Combine inevitably arrived. During the period of the Seven Hour War, Ven'Raah spent his time hiding in a farmer's field. When the war ended, he began wandering once more, only to be located by a patrol of alien soldiers. He was brought into Combine custody and enslaved, being constantly moved around from city to city, his hope for freedom slowly, yet surely, dwindling, alongside his once vivacious attitude, which was replaced by a quiet, humble and respectful demeanor.

Write a detailed roleplay scenario of your choosing that includes your Vortigaunt, their personality and emotions, so that we may see how well you can roleplay:

As he slowly swept the quiet, dirty streets of City-20, Ven'Raah would remain quiet, his mouth tightly shut. As a group of citizens walked by, he'd look up, longing to have even a morsel of freedom, wishing to at least be able to walk around without shackles, just like the humans. That longing, however, would be dashed by a vocoded cough. "<:: Biotic. ::>" A rough, vocoded voice would call out, stirring Ven' from his thoughts and causing him to quickly turn around. Behind him would be two officers of the Civil Protection, stunsticks held by their sides. "<:: Come with us. We've got something for you to deal with. ::>" One officer would command. Ven'Raah, without any objection, would quietly follow the officers, not daring to step out of line. As they led him to a dirty bench, several old pieces of cardboard draped over it and various cans lying around, he'd take initiative, approaching the bench. Quickly, he'd collect the cardboard, folding it up as the two officers whispered to one another, occasionally snickering. After depositing the cardboard in a nearby dumpster, he'd return to the bench, picking up the cans in his hands and crushing them. As he deposited the cans in a trashcan, his ears would perk up. "<:: Biotic! You missed one! ::>" A taunting vocoded voice would call out. Ven would turn around, only to be smacked right in the face by an empty Breen Water can. As the officers chuckled amongst themselves, he'd make no remark, not even a whispered retort or Vortigese insult, like he once would have, simply picking up the can and crushing it, depositing it alongside the others. He'd turn around, watching the officers as they looked over the now cleaned spot. With a grunt, the pair would walk off, and Ven would return to idly sweeping, trying to make busy just to ignore his frustrations.

Do you understand and acknowledge the rules of the Vortigaunt Faction, and agree to follow them, and breaking these rules may result in your whitelist being revoked?: I do.

Do you understand that, if you are found to be lacking the required roleplay skill to play as a Vortigaunt, your whitelist may be removed at the discretion of the Faction Leads and Community Management?: I do.

Do you understand that failing to uphold a serious attitude and behavior on your Vortigaunt, actions that may make the faction look bad, will result in your whitelist being removed at the discretion of the Faction Leads and Management?: I do.

ON-HOLD

I would like you to add a bit more to your Vortigaunt Knowledge questions, as your sentences end too soon and seem too simple.

Edit the application and I will review it once again, once you confirm that you are done.
