# gHHClZWtmAD0pIMNWelcome to NIGHTFALL.
A Serious Roleplay server that focuses on one main storyline. Like most servers, our server has a set of rules that are to be followed by all members. Below will be the rules listed for our roleplay server. Keep in mind that any sort of loophole of the rules is not allowed. The excuse of not knowing that a rule existed is not valid, and will get you punished either way.
General Rules:
Staff Discretion:The most powerful and important rule within our Community is Staff Discretion. Members of the Staff Team reserve the right to punish you, or intervene in a roleplay scenario at their discretion, if they deem that there is a disturbance. Staff Word & Decision is final and cannot be argued over.
Toxicity:We aim to provide a stable and fun experience for our Community. However, we are not hesitant to remove the bad seeds. Toxicity will not be tolerated in the slightest within our Community. You may be removed from the Server if you are found to be showing a venomous and toxic behavior and attitude towards other players or staff.
Minging:The easiest way to be removed from our community is the act of minging. Not taking anything seriously, and actively looking to cause disruption and chaos will give you an easy ticket to the shadow realm.
Mingerunning / Mingepunching / Mingegrabbing:Running away from roleplay scenarios, punching, or grabbing items around other players without a /me is considered Mingegrabbing / Mingepunching. This is strictly forbidden, and staff members will swiftly intervene and force you to roleplay your actions, otherwise you will be punished.
Powergaming:The act of forcing your actions upon other players without allowing them to respond, or forcing a character to lose an encounter unfairly. Your actions must be realistic and logical. Your characters are not superhuman or are protagonists.
Character Descriptions:Your character descriptions must include the PHYSICAL appearance of your character, such as any noticeable features that may stand out, or a description of your character’s clothing. Usually contains height, posture, accent & voice tone, etc. Staff will tell you to change your description appropriately if they deem it is unfit.
Metagaming & Metabaiting:Using or leaking In-Character knowledge in Out-of-Character, or purposely baiting other players to metagame by saying things like “OTA are flagged on!”, “There are rebels in the RDC!”, “ This guy has a weapon in his inventory!” etc. in Out-Of-Character functions You may be punished severely for this.
FailRPing:Fail Roleplaying is an act of performing an action that would be unrealistic, impossible, and unfitting for your character. A character wouldn’t be able to lift up a car and throw it at a large distance, that would be FailRPing.
Erotic Roleplay, ERPing:The Act of engaging in sexual activities with other characters, making others uncomfortable. While we allow small scale things like flirting and being seductive as personality traits, you are not at all allowed to go overboard with it to the point where it’d make those around you uncomfortable and disturbed.
Mugging:The act of mugging another character requires a strictly good in-character reason and motive. Mugging people for the sake of it is strictly forbidden. Members of the Civil Workers’ Union or Medical Union can’t be mugged just because of their status. Your character cannot focus solely on mugging other characters, otherwise your character will be banned after repeated offenses. If a mugging is valid, there must be at least 4 Civil Protection Characters flagged on. Recruits & Scanners do not count towards the ratio. You cannot flag down from your character or disconnect for at least 20 minutes if you are reported during your Mugging attempt. Once Civil Protection stops searching for you, then you are clear to flag down or disconnect. You may not kill your mugging victim.
Random Deathmatch, RDMing:The act of killing another character for no proper reason. Killing another character requires a tremendously valid roleplay reason, since you’d be attempting to Permanently Kill another character. Reasons that are considered Valid are: If you are attacked by this character first, if they have caused a severe damage to your friends or group. If they are actively trying to screw you over that could lead to your death. Otherwise, all invalid deaths will be voided, and will count as RDMing.
Abuse of game bugs & exploits:The act of abusing a game feature that is not functioning properly, or exploiting to gain advantage for yourself or your group. All bugs and exploits are to be reported to the Management or Development Team. If you are found to be taking advantage of bugs and exploits, you will be banned.
Leaving to Avoid Roleplay/Punishment:Disconnecting, or switching characters purposefully with the intent of avoiding a Roleplay scenario, or to avoid getting punished can lead to your character being PKed if done so during an arrest, and/or can double or triple the severity of your punishment.
Not here to roleplay:Similar to Minging, but the act of not being here to partake in the server’s ever-developing story, and having the simple goal of messing around to ruin the experience and enjoyment for other players. This rule will almost always be met with a Permanent Ban, be wise.
Combat Rules:
Shoot to Roleplay, S2RP:The default combat system used by NIGHTFALL. S2RP is a system that requires a player to realistically and logically perform, and respond with a /me in roleplay situations without the usage of rolling or Shooting to Kill. The strengths and weaknesses of your characters should shine in S2RP. Logic and Realism should be kept in mind. A Citizen would barely be able to overpower a high ranked Civil Protection Officer, or an Overwatch Transhuman Arm Soldier in hand-to-hand combat.
Play to Lose, P2L:The act of role playing to lose in a situation that would give the opponent the advantage. This system is typically used for when your character wouldn’t be able to win against the opposing character. You must roleplay accordingly with your character’s defeat against the opposite player. Otherwise, it will be classified as Powergaming.
Shoot to Kill, S2K:The act of combatting without the requirement to roleplay your actions. Typically seen with weapons. S2K must be agreed to by all involved parties. Bhopping or jumping excessively is not allowed during S2K. Injuries must still be properly roleplayed after the S2K sequence has been concluded.
Shoot to Miss, S2M:The act of shooting your weapon with the intended purpose of missing your target, but aiming around them. This is purely for immersion and is suggested to be utilized to make chase scenes or battles more immersive and fun.
Rolling:the act of using /roll commands to determine the outcome of actions. Must be agreed to by all involved parties before usage. The rolling system is not the default combat system, and should not be used primarily unless agreed to otherwise.
Faction Rules:
Combine Civil Authority: The Combine Civil Authority is the most important faction for a HL2:RP server. They are the faction that will provide the city with roleplay and interactions. And as such, they must follow several rules to make sure that CityRP is immersive. You may not abuse your CCA whitelist in any way, shape or form. This includes wild Amputations of characters & senseless beatings for no reason. You cannot favor, or target specific people, to either give them an Advantage, or Disadvantage. Do not abuse the CCA Vendor to supply yourself, or any other Faction with items unless required under a valid roleplay reason. The CCA Faction Lead will ultimately decide on how the CCA will function on the server normally. Any questions you might have should be directed towards them.
The Resistance:The Resistance, belonging as a Subclass to the Citizen Faction, are the main nemesis of the Combine. They will typically be the ones causing trouble within the City, and will be in a never-ending war with the CCA Faction. For Combine Civil Authority Characters to be attacked in any capacity, there must be at least 5 CCA Characters flagged on. Recruits and Scanners do not count towards the ratio. You require Admin Approval to loot a CCA Character’s corpse, if you manage to secure a kill. The Admin will approve or deny at their discretion. If denied, you cannot loot the corpse for any rewards. Actively attacking the City is prohibited.
Overwatch Transhuman Arm: The Overwatch Transhuman Arm Faction is not allowed to leave the Nexus under any circumstances without Authorization from the Overwatch Faction Lead, or proper in-character reason. (i.e Sociostatus BLACK, H.V.T Escort, etc. ) OTA are not to micromanage the CCA Faction. They are suggested to not flag onto their OTA Characters if the Citizen to CCA Ratio is uneven. You are not allowed to abuse the OTA Vendor and supply yourself with an unreasonable amount of equipment and items.
Vortigaunt: The Vortigaunt faction is powerful. For this reason, we do not allow Vortigaunts to actively provoke, or seek for action when flagged on. Only exceptions would be planned operations & Hunts. You are not allowed to harm or attack another Vortigaunt. Do not be overly aggressive with your Vortigaunt character. When in combat, try to be fair with your abilities. Do not ruin the fun for other players engaged with you.
Black Market Dealer: BMDs are lone wolves, they are not a part of resistance groups or cells. They only accept tokens, and must not sell from the Business Menu 24/7. Keep your stock realistic and your prices appropriately. Do not sell MP7s and Shotguns commonly, keep them super rare.
Permanent Kill Rules:
Permanent Kills are the act of completely killing off a character through IC Means. Once a Character is PKed, they may never be used or recreated again. Their story ends at the exact moment they are PKed. There are several factors for PKs:
If your character is:
Killed by Combine Forces
Killed during an authorized Raid/Sweep of any kind.
Killed in Conflict with other characters
Killed during an initiated mugging/attack
Killed during a fully role-played scenario
Killed during an PK authed Event
Killed during an authed S2K
Committed Suicide
LARP’d during an arrest/punishment
Then your character will be PKed unless stated otherwise.
If your character has been:
RDMed
Killed while being mugged
Unfairly Amputated
Fell to their death due to lag
Metagamed, leading to their death
Killed by non-event NPCs
Then your character will be NLRed, forgetting the events prior to their death and continuing their story. Staff may NLR your character for a reason not stated here, at their discretion.
PET Flags
The PET Flags grant access to the physgun, toolgun, and perms to spawn props. You may ask for PET Flags from an Admin to decorate your apartment, store, workshift warehouse, etc. However you must keep your builds realistic and logical, and must not create unnecessary builds. Your PET Flags are a privilege, not a right. Abuse of PET Flags in any way may prohibit you from acquiring them again in the future.
PAC3
PAC3 is typically a Donator only feature granted as a privilege. However, due to how abusive it can be, PAC3 is severely restricted. You may not use PACs that ruin the immersion of the server, or make a mockery of it. Keep your PACs minimal as possible with light changes on your model. Staff Members reserve the right to revoke your PAC3 regardless of your Donator status if they deem that you are abusing it. You may not alter your model with items that you do not have ICly, and you are not allowed to hide things on your model that would otherwise get you into IC Consequences. (i.e hiding your resistance uniform with a citizen model through PAC3.)
